Don’t miss out on £140 off your energy bill

st_helens_councilThe Warm Home Discount Scheme (WHDS) offers eligible customers a one-off payment on their electricity bill. For Winter 2014/15, this will be £140.

Customers in receipt of Guaranteed Pension Credit automatically qualify for the discount.

However, most of the larger suppliers also offer the discount to their customers who are struggling with their energy costs and who they think need it most.

Each supplier has their own rules about who qualifies for this help.

Here are a few examples of who may qualify

  • Pensioners in receipt of Pension Credit Savings only.
  • Customers in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance (income based)
  • Customers in receipt of Income Support or income based Job Seekers Allowance (subject to additional conditions)
  • Households with a gross annual income of less than £16,190

The discount is offered on a first come first served basis, so you need to get your application in early.
