DRC Receives Grant to Replace Hall Floor

Community groups and individuals who use the Hall at the DRC will know that it has been badly affected by damp causing the parts of the floor to raise up. This has raised safety concerns highlighting the need to find a permanent solution. Over the years we have had numerous repairs done and a new floored laid over the original wooden floor, all to no avail. The only possible solution was to remove the existing floor and lay a new one which would cost a significant amount of money.

After searching for appropriate grants we applied to Biffa Award who provide grants to projects as part of the Landfill Communities Fund. In November 2019 we were informed that our application had been successful and an award was made of £42,000!

The award will cover the cost of removing the original floor and replacing it with a treated  concrete screed, which will eliminate the risk of damp reoccurring. A new vinyl floor will be laid on top.

We look forward to the work being completed in April when we can welcome new and existing community and health groups back to enjoy the wonderful new resource.
