We offer tailored training to suit the needs of many groups. Training includes Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language and is available to everyone - voluntary and community groups, businesses and corporate organisations.

Did You Know?

  • Under the Disability Discrimination Act (2006) Employers and service providers have a duty to ensure equal access to services and employment opportunities for D/deaf people.
  • Deaf=Equality Training is aimed at anyone wishing to learn or improve their Sign Language or Deaf Awareness skills, either to enhance their job or for their own personal interest.

What Courses Are Available?

  • Deaf and Deafblind Awareness
  • Level 1 Certificate in British Sign Language, run by DeafSolutions3
  • Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language, run by DeafSolutions3

Do I Need Any Particular Skills Or Qualifications To Enrol On The Courses?
There are no pre-entry requirements for the Deaf Awareness courses. It is advisable (but not a requirement) to complete this course before enrolling onto the Level One Certificate in British Sign Language.

You will need to have achieved the Level One Qualification before enrolling onto the Level Two course.

Will I Receive A Recognised Qualification At The End Of The Course?
All courses are accredited through Signature.

You will achieve a recognised qualification on successful completion of the courses.

Where Will The Courses Take Place?
Most of the courses are delivered in our training facilities at the Deafness Resource Centre. However, arrangements can be made to deliver training in other venues, dependant on the demand and the facilities. Please contact us for more details.

How Long Will The Course Last?
This depends on which course you choose. Level One usually lasts for around 22 weeks, and Level 2 around 33 weeks (both 3 hours per week)

I Would Like My Employees To Learn Sign Language To Meet Our Business Requirements. Do You Provide Training For Companies?
Yes, we can customise the training to suit your business needs. We work in partnership with a number of local businesses and organisations providing deaf awareness and sign language training to their front line staff.
