| About Us |
The Deafness Resource Centre provides services that aim to empower, support and enhance the quality of life of D/deaf people. "St Helens and District Society for Deaf People" was established in St Helens in 1928. In 2009, this was renamed Deafness Resource Centre and all aims, objectives and assets were transferred to this 'new' charity. The organisation is managed by a committee made up of Deaf and hearing people. Currently, our range of services are offered across the St Helens Borough, with expansion of some services across Halton from 2011. The Communications Service now covers the North West of England. According to UK statistics, 1 in 7 people have some form of deafness - they could be your friends, family, customers, colleagues or visitors. The Deafness Resource Centre is here to offer services to deaf people, and also to develop other services to help them to become more Deaf Aware. We welcome new
members on to the Management Committee, particularly
those people who have skills / experience / knowledge in
the following areas:
The Committee currently meets once every two months.
A full induction is given to new members.
